Embedded Games and Bluetooth Game Controller using Circuit Python and Circuit Playground Express
In 2019 iTapArcade plans to focus on getting makers excited to code in CircuitPython based on creating embedded games and wirelessly interacting with mobile games leveraging CircuitPython and CircuitPlayground Express. We plan to add bluetooth to the current Game Shield Kit for Circuit Playground Express. Here are several items of what's to come in 2019:
- Bluetooth for your existing Circuit Playground Express (CPX) board turning your CP and CPX into an interactive BLE wireless controller for PC, MAC, and Mobile Games like Timberman
- Handheld electronic games using as many sensors and features of the Circuit Playground Express as possible. We have an electronic football game coming for the CPX just in time for the SuperBowl.
- Sports games leveraging the sensors on the CPX. We have a wireless mini basketball scoreboard system based on the CPX and the Game Shield Kit shown below.
I have found middle school students really getting engaged and interested in coding when they see some type of game they can play or interact with on the CPX since it has been available. I have had multiple booths at various educational events where students get totally absorbed into trying to figure out how to play certain games with just pushbuttons, NeoPixels, and sound effects on the CPX. Adding basic gameplay to these core elements of interaction and you have a way to engage students leveraging the CPX while getting them exposed to basic programming concepts leveraging CircuitPython. Let others know about our game development efforts on the CPX in 2019 based on CircuitPython!
